I met Chris Cox at a horsemanship clinic he did near Kalamazoo, Michigan. He's a great clinician and professional horseman with a fun and lively personality. I found his book interesting, fun to read, and packed with great information and clear photos that depict what he talks about in the text.
My mom gave me this book, True Horsemanship Through Feel, by Bill Dorrance and Leslie Desmond. Bill's respect and love for the horse is evident and I enjoyed reading his perspectives and insights. Bill is a true cowboy and the text is written in his personal style. After 93 years of study, he has a lot to say about the horse's way of doing things.
If you want to get to the details, Horse Gaits, Balance and Movement will give you the full scoop on how the horse balances and moves. Full of great illustrations (something I enjoy in a good book) and quality information. The book is a resource to understand the natural physics of any breed of horse. More to come....

Pony Pointers is my book and so, of course, it's at the top of the list. My sister, Carol, and I teamed up to create Pony Pointers and it's companion Teaching Guide. The books are designed to make teaching and learning horsmanship fun and easy. The other books on this list are some of my favorites written by well respected authorities in the horse industry. Knowledge lasts a lifetime and I think great books are a fantastic value.
